DJ RAISES MORE THAN £11.5K RUNNING MARATHON

A Jersey DJ who played music as he ran the London Marathon has raised more than £11,500.

Gus Fraser was trying to set a record as the world’s fastest DJ to run a marathon.

The 45-year-old had to complete the 26.2-mile (42.2km) course in five hours or under to make it into the Guinness World Records.

Mr Fraser, who had a back injury going into the marathon, said he was proud of his achievement despite being unable to set a record.

'Lot of pain'

He finished in a time of six hours and 21 minutes.

Mr Fraser played music as he ran through the capital with more than 50,000 other runners on Sunday.

He said his back started hurting after 3.12 miles (5km) and he was in "a lot of pain".

"I believe I'm still the only person to have completed a marathon with the decks, so that in itself is good enough," he said.

"The support was unbelievable."

The DJ kit weighed about 8kg (17lb).

Mr Fraser was raising money and awareness for Cancer Research UK in memory of his dad who died 10 years ago.

He said many people in the crowd had seen him during appearances on BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport earlier in the day.

"I had the biggest cheer every time I was passing people and I got a lot of energy from them," he said.
